Irsenpfad Path
Dahnen
You can experience what tranquility sounds like and what idyll feels like on this wild and romantic hike in the NaturWanderPark delux through the unspoiled valley of the Irsen, a few kilometers northwest of Irrhausen. Framed by mighty mountain ranges, the stream meanders through a picturesque floodplain landscape. Softly rippling, it accompanies the buzzing and humming of busy bees, bumblebees and beetles. Dragonflies sun themselves iridescently on the banks and butterflies dance from blossom to blossom. The scent of flowers and herbs is intoxicating. Be gentle, find a beautiful spot and settle down for a few minutes. Close your eyes, listen to this world, feel its magic and become one with it for a moment.
In the valley of the beavers
The family-friendly circular tour starts at the Wehrbüsch hiking parking lot, near the Waldesruh inn. The trail first leads northward. Short stretches through forest and along forest edges alternate with meadow passages. At the northern tip it goes downhill and shortly before a mill it crosses to the other side of the brook. The path now stays close to the Irsen and leads through a multifaceted floodplain landscape that could not be more idyllic. In some places you will discover small dams. Beavers have left their traces, because they have become native here again. With a little luck, you can observe the industrious landscapers near their castles. Things get exciting at the southern tip of the route: Near the settlement of Haustrich there is a ladder on the slope, over which you descend to then cross the Irsen over stepping stones in the water. The rest of the trail turns northwest again, circles two fish ponds, and follows a forest road until it climbs again in the hillside forest. The forest is pleasantly cool and offers a view of the sun-flooded valley with the winding Irsen river.
