Welchenhausen Sculpture Trail
Welchenhausen
In summer 2019, nine sculptors from Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany worked for four weeks during the "International Sculpture Symposium" in the open-air studio at the German-Belgian border bridge in Welchenhausen.
The results of their work in sandstone, steel and basalt now flank the Welchenhausen Sculpture Trail. In their contrast and interplay, art and culture create an impressive KultOur experience here in the heart of Europe.
A total of 10 sculptures by 9 artists from 3 countries can be admired along the approx. 8-kilometre-long path across the national borders from Stoubach (B) via Welchenhausen (D) to Ouren (B) to Lieler (L).
The sculpture trail begins directly at the border bridge in Stupbach with the impressive sandstone sculpture "Dreiländereck-David" by Susanne Paucker. The other sculptures are located on the road to Welchenhausen, in Welchenhausen, in Ouren and on the heights with a view over the Our valley. Creativity, precision and perseverance characterise the works of art.
Once you have reached your destination (Stupbach or Ouren), you hike back along the same route, only at Welchenhausen the route changes slightly.
The Kultourtalstraße, opened in 2018, also runs between Welchenhausen and Stupbach and features 30 sculptures and other art stations by various artists.
