Hurry Up – Slow Down
Didier Scheuren in the wArtehalle
The "Artist of East Belgium" is a dynamic personality. As an educated engineer, mathematical thinking is not foreign to him. As an artist, he reacts intuitively and spontaneously to the energy he senses in his environment. His drawings are precise. The combination of technical elements and organic forms is disturbing.
The delicate drawings capture what emerges "in between," that is, between different spheres and actors. "Gently, with a touch of poetry, works are created in which the viewer is invited to lose themselves.” Upon intense contemplation, spaces of possibility open up, questioning our perception of the everyday.
The wArtehalle inspired the artist to think about the theme of waiting. How beautiful it is to pause. In the impetuous movement, the small things in life are overlooked, perhaps even lost. The fluttering leaf on the tree, the slowly moving clouds, the rustling of the wind.
In the waiting hall, drawings will be shown along with everything that will emerge in an open process. Perhaps there will be an installation or another element from Didier Scheuren's treasure chamber. Because he will be out and about in the region, finding, salvaging, and transforming things.
Vernissage: Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at 4:00 PM in Welchenhausen
The wArtehalle is open 24/7.
