Discover the Islek
The ISLEK is a foothill of the Ardennes and extends over the north of Luxembourg and the north of the southern Eifel. Here the three countries of Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany form a border triangle near Ouren. The landscape is characterized by open plateaus and predominantly wooded valleys.
Low mountain streams such as the border river Our, the Prüm or the Irsen have dug their way into the approximately 500 meter high western tip of the Rhenish Slate Mountains and created a multifaceted landscape. The sparse settlement with small villages and individual farmsteads as well as a rather extensive agricultural use give nature - and its flora and fauna - a lot of room to develop. A whole range of rare animal and plant species can be found in the ISLEK. Famous representatives are the wild cat, the hazel grouse or the black stork. In the case of plants, these are, for example, wild orchids and daffodils.
